Wal-Mart is joining many other large organizations and wants to cash in on what seems to be a very lucrative business. Wal mart offer drm free music will be a part of their online store. Wal-Mart does not intend on putting privacy drm on these tracks though, which is what itunes does and because of this there prices go up. With doing this Wal-Mart can offer a very low rate for each Ares download it will have available (approximately 94 cents a download. One of the lowest rates out there!). What Wal-Mart is doing is hoping to see if this will put more action in the market.

EMI and Universal are the 2 labels working with Wal-Mart and the latter of the 2 having shunned apple. Universal, reportedly shunned apple for its refusal to agree with variable pricing. Wal-Mart will not carry recordings using the RIAA Parental Advisory Label. Wal-Mart seems to be undercutting apple by 35 cents per track–a huge pricing difference when apple insists it only makes 10 cents per track. Some how or another Wal-Mart has wrangled yet another deal from a big supplier.
